this begins a long and arduous journey to remove all result state from
Goal, to eventually drop the std::enable_shared_from_this base, and to
completely eliminate all unsynchronized modification of states of both
Goal and Worker. by the end of this we will hopefully be able to start
and reap multiple derivation builds in parallel, which should speed up
the process quite a bit (at least for short local builds, others might
not notice a large difference. the build hooks will remain a problem.)

we still mutate goal state to store the results of any given goal run,
but now we also have that information in Worker and could in theory do
something else with it. we could return a map of goal to goal results,
which would also let us better diagnose failures of subgoals (at all).

all goals do this. it makes no sense to not notify a goal of EOF
conditions because this is the universal signal for "child done"

just update progress every time a goal has returned from work(). there
seem to be no performance penalties, and the code is much simpler now.

under owner_less it's equivalent to insert(), only sometimes a little
bit faster because it does not construct a weak_ptr if the goal is in
the set already. this small difference in performance does not matter
here and c++23 will make insert transparent anyway, so we can drop it

upcast_goal was only ever needed to break circular includes, but the
same solution that gave us upcast_goal also lets us fully remove it:
just upcast goals without a wrapper function, but only in .cc files.

LocalDerivationGoal includes a large number of low-level sandboxing
primitives for Darwin and Linux, intermingled with ifdefs.
Start creating platform-specific classes to make it easier to add new
platforms and review platform-specific code.
This change only creates support infrastructure and moves two function,
more functions will be moved in future changes.

check goals for timeouts first, and their activity fds only if no
timeout has occurred. checking for timeouts *after* activity sets
us up for assertion failures by running multiple build completion
notifiers, the first of which will kill/reap the the goal process
and consuming the Pid instance. when the second notifier attempts
to do the same it will core dump with an assertion failure in Pid
and take down not only the single goal, but the entire daemon and
all goals it was building. luckily this is rare in practice since
it requires a build to both finish and time out at the same time.
writing a test for this is not feasible due to how much it relies
on scheduling to actually trigger the underlying bug, but on idle
machines it can usually be triggered by running multiple sleeping
builds with timeout set to the sleep duration and `--keep-going`:

This reverts commit 5e3986f59cb58f48186a49dcec7aa317b4787522. This
un-implements RFC 92 but fixes the critical bug #9052 which many people
are hitting. This is a decent stop-gap until a minimal reproduction of
that bug is found and a proper fix can be made.
Mostly fixed #9052, but I would like to leave that issue open until we
have a regression test, so I can then properly fix the bug (unbreaking
RFC 92) later.

We use the same nested map representation we used for goals, again in
order to save space. We might someday want to combine with `inputDrvs`,
by doing `V = bool` instead of `V = std::set<OutputName>`, but we are
not doing that yet for sake of a smaller diff.
The ATerm format for Derivations also needs to be extended, in addition
to the in-memory format. To accomodate this, we added a new basic
versioning scheme, so old versions of Nix will get nice errors. (And
going forward, if the ATerm format changes again the errors will be even
better.)
`parsedStrings`, an internal function used as part of parsing
derivations in A-Term format, used to consume the final `]` but expect
the initial `[` to already be consumed. This made for what looked like
unbalanced brackets at callsites, which was confusing. Now it consumes
both which is hopefully less confusing.
As part of testing, we also created a unit test for the A-Term format for
regular non-experimental derivations too.

To avoid dealing with an optional `drvPath` (because we might not know
it yet) everywhere, make an `CreateDerivationAndRealiseGoal`. This goal
just builds/substitutes the derivation file, and then kicks of a build
for that obtained derivation; in other words it does the chaining of
goals when the drv file is missing (as can already be the case) or
computed (new case).
This also means the `getDerivation` state can be removed from
`DerivationGoal`, which makes the `BasicDerivation` / in memory case and
`Derivation` / drv file file case closer together.
The map type is factored out for clarity, and because we will soon hvae
a second use for it (`Derivation` itself).

Types converted:

Existing ones mostly conforming the pattern cleaned up:
- `ContentAddressMethod`
- `ContentAddressWithReferences`
The `DerivationGoal::derivationType` field had a bogus initialization,
now caught, so I made it `std::optional`. I think #8829 can make it
non-optional again because it will ensure we always have the derivation
when we construct a `DerivationGoal`.
See that issue (#7479) for details on the general goal.
`git grep 'Raw::Raw'` indicates the two types I didn't yet convert
`DerivedPath` and `BuiltPath` (and their `Single` variants) . This is
because @roberth and I (can't find issue right now...) plan on reworking
them somewhat, so I didn't want to churn them more just yet.

We want to be able to write down `foo.drv^bar.drv^baz`:
`foo.drv^bar.drv` is the dynamic derivation (since it is itself a
derivation output, `bar.drv` from `foo.drv`).
To that end, we create `Single{Derivation,BuiltPath}` types, that are
very similar except instead of having multiple outputs (in a set or
map), they have a single one. This is for everything to the left of the
rightmost `^`.
`NixStringContextElem` has an analogous change, and now can reuse
`SingleDerivedPath` at the top level. In fact, if we ever get rid of
`DrvDeep`, `NixStringContextElem` could be replaced with
`SingleDerivedPath` entirely!
Important note: some JSON formats have changed.
We already can *produce* dynamic derivations, but we can't refer to them
directly. Today, we can merely express building or example at the top
imperatively over time by building `foo.drv^bar.drv`, and then with a
second nix invocation doing `<result-from-first>^baz`, but this is not
declarative. The ethos of Nix of being able to write down the full plan
everything you want to do, and then execute than plan with a single
command, and for that we need the new inductive form of these types.

which sort of goal does what.

`DerivedPath::Built` and `DerivationGoal` were previously using a
regular set with the convention that the empty set means all outputs.
But it is easy to forget about this rule when processing those sets.
Using `OutputSpec` forces us to get it right.

Use one of `get` or `getOr` instead which will either return a null-pointer (with a nicer error message) or a default value when the key is missing.

With this, we don't have to copy the entire .drv closure to the
destination store ahead of time (or at all). Instead, buildPaths()
reads .drv files from the eval store and copies inputSrcs to the
destination store if it needs to build a derivation.
Issue #5025.

If there were many top-level goals (which are not destroyed until the
very end), commands like

could fail with "Too many open files". So now we do some explicit
cleanup from amDone(). It would be cleaner to separate goals from
their temporary internal state, but that would be a bigger refactor.

This avoids an ambiguity where the `StorePathWithOutputs { drvPath, {}
}` could mean "build `brvPath`" or "substitute `drvPath`" depending on
context.
It also brings the internals closer in line to the new CLI, by
generalizing the `Buildable` type is used there and makes that
distinction already.
In doing so, relegate `StorePathWithOutputs` to being a type just for
backwards compatibility (CLI and RPC).

To prepare for the upcoming DrvOutputSubstitutionGoal

This separates the scheduling logic (including simple hook pathway) from
the local-store needing code.
This should be the final split for now. I'm reasonably happy with how
it's turning out, even before I'm done moving code into
`local-derivation-goal`. Benefits:
1. This will help "witness" that the hook case is indeed a lot simpler,
and also compensate for the increased complexity that comes from
content-addressed derivation outputs.
2. It also moves us ever so slightly towards a world where we could use
off-the-shelf storage or sandboxing, since `local-derivation-goal`
would be gutted in those cases, but `derivation-goal` should remain
nearly the same.
The new `#if 0` in the new files will be deleted in the following
commit. I keep it here so if it turns out more stuff can be moved over,
it's easy to do so in a way that preserves ordering --- and thus
prevents conflicts.
N.B.

Improve error formatting
|

Changes:
* The divider lines are gone. These were in practice a bit confusing,
in particular with --show-trace or --keep-going, since then there
were multiple lines, suggesting a start/end which wasn't the case.
* Instead, multi-line error messages are now indented to align with
the prefix (e.g. "error: ").
* The 'description' field is gone since we weren't really using it.
* 'hint' is renamed to 'msg' since it really wasn't a hint.
* The error is now printed *before* the location info.
* The 'name' field is no longer printed since most of the time it
wasn't very useful since it was just the name of the exception (like
EvalError). Ideally in the future this would be a unique, easily
googleable error ID (like rustc).
* "trace:" is now just "…". This assumes error contexts start with
something like "while doing X".
